About SGM 2006

In 2006, the first State of the Gulf of Mexico Summit was held in Corpus Christi, Texas. Slated for a 2005 launch, an active hurricane season restricted the availability of key leaders until 2006. This international event brought together leaders from science, industry, government, and non-governmental organizations. Governors from states in the US and Mexico participated to reinforce the importance of sound science supporting sustainable economic growth of this valuable resource.
